The word satellite refers to an artificial planet. It moves around the orbit. Bangladesh launched Bangabandhu satellite -1 on Thursday, may 10, 2018. By launching of Bangabandhu satellite -1, Bangladesh has owned 57th place among all nation. It was launched at NASA's kennedy space centre Florida in USA. It's height from the land is about 35,800 kilometres. It ranges from Indonesia to tazakinistan. It's weight 3600 kg. It's Last's up to 15 years.
This satellites made by Thales Alenia Space. The cost of Bangabandhu satellite -1 is 2765 crore taka. Two stations have been setup at Gazipur and Betbunia for control this satellite.
Bangladesh will get 40 kind of facilities. They are DTH service, Radio or Satellite transmission, VSAT, E-learning, E-resarch, taking picture, video distribution, emergency communication, especially at Disaster period, national Security, Space exploration, GPS, searching of oil, gas or various mines, making digital map, weather forecasting etc. This satellite will also provide broad band connectivity to rural areas throughout the country.
